HISTORY: the pioneers of upcycled couture jewelry
At GIGI PARIS, we are traditionally specialized in vintage jewelry. In August 2020, we launched the concept of upcycling on Designer jewelry in France, in particular by installing our creations in the heart of Paris at Galeries Lafayette 🥰
CONCEPT: authentic pieces, upcycled
We have found sublime vintage buttons, taken from old suits, jackets or woolens from our favorite fashion houses. We mounted these little pendant wonders by hand, with all our love. We work with a collective of antique dealers in whom we have complete confidence as well as a team of experts who authenticate our antique pieces to us.
PRODUCT: the upcycled pendant
This one is a slightly 1,8cm silver Chanel. Around the legendary CC logo, unchanged since the 20s, there is the inscription CHANEL 31 RUE CAMBON PARIS in capital letters. The iconic 31 rue Cambon, Gabrielle Chanel's stronghold since 1918 and fitted out by her: on the ground floor, the boutique, on the first floor the large salon where the collections are presented and where the Haute Couture fittings take place. Then the staircase, lined with mirrors, which leads to his apartment on the second floor, an intimate place populated by his treasures. Above, the studio where Karl Lagerfeld worked, then the workshops, bathed in light even under the roofs. It housed all its activities including jewelry workshops. This configuration, imagined by Gabrielle Chanel, has remained intact.
Our pendant is steeped in this story, the story of a brand that has transformed fashion and women, and of a street branded haute couture where fashion and architecture have lived in perfect love for more than 100 years.
It is mounted as a necklace on a stainless steel rope chain (40cm).
MATERIALS AND QUALITIES
Our jewelry has been designed so that your skin, which does not have a neutral pH, is never in contact with the button, in order to prevent any allergic reaction for you, and to limit wear and tear on the jewelry. For this we use quality primers. Our buttons are mounted on gold plated stainless steel (chains included). The buttons are often made of metal, and should not be too exposed to water, although they have been designed by the Fashion Houses to withstand washing or pressing.
